How to watch the Awesome Games Done Quick 2023 speedrunning marathon

It’s almost time for Games Done Quick’s first speedrunning extravaganza of the year. The 2023 edition of Awesome Games Done Quick (AGDQ) kicks off on Sunday and this year’s event looks set to deliver another week-long celebration of incredible gaming achievements.

The first game on tap is a percentage run of Splatoon 3meaning the runner can use whatever resources it takes to beat the game, and Can’t wait to see an expert work his way to the end in just over an hour. That is followed by a 29 minute run The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which will almost certainly feature a lot of ridiculous physics stunts; you can get a taste of what to expect by watching this recent video from the AGDQ runner.

From there it’s schedule packed of tantalizingly good runs, such as a Super Mario All Stars… shaker? (Yes.) I would really recommend scanning the whole list and highlighting a few you want to check out.

AGDQ 2023 will begin on January 8 at noon ET and is expected to end very early in the morning on January 15. This year’s event will be completely virtual; it was supposed to take place in Florida in person, but the Games Done Quick organization moved it online due to Florida’s anti-LGBTQ+ laws and “ongoing disregard for the dangers of COVID-19”. You can follow the broadcast live Games Done Quick’s Twitch channel or catch up on individual runs on the GDQ YouTube channel.
