Yoshihiro Akiyama, or Choo Sung-hoon, a South Korean-Japanese judo and MMA star, is one of 30 remaining players on Netflix’s South Korean reality survival series, Physical 100. Physical 100, a Netflix original series, has received a lot of attention since its debut, with fans comparing it to a hybrid between Squid Game and Ninja Warrior. The series is nearing its end, with episodes 7 and 8 set to premiere on Tuesday, February 14, 2023. It remains to be seen who will be crowned the ultimate strongest person of all. The grand prize winner would receive 300 million KRW ($240,000).
Meet MMA fighter Choo Sung-hoon, who has been named the ‘most famous’ player in Netflix’s Physical 100.
Physical: Hundreds Choo Sung-Hoon is the most loved of the 100 contestants on the reality show. Yoshihiro Akiyama is the native name of the South Korean judo and MMA star and he is 47 years old. Yoshihiro Akiyama, better known as “Sexyama”, was born on July 29, 1975 in Osaka, Japan. His Korean heritage placed him in the fourth generation of Japanese and in 2001 he was granted Japanese citizenship.
Choo Sung Hoon is a 3rd Dan Black Belt in Judo and has trained in submission wrestling, karate, boxing, wrestling and kickboxing. Choo Sung-hoon won a gold medal in Judo at the 2002 Asian Games and 2001 Asian Championships. According to Celebrity Net Worth, the One Championship star is worth $4 million.
Choo Sung-hoon made his professional MMA debut in December 2004 when he defeated Francois Botha. Akiyama defeated Amir Sabollah in September 2014, improving his record to 14-5. Choo Sung-hoon was a three-time Fight of the Night contestant for the Ultimate Fighting Championship and a former K-1 HERO Light Heavyweight Grand Prix Tournament champion.
Since 2009, Choo Sung-hoon has been married to Japanese fashion model Shiho Yano. Choo Sarang is their daughter’s name. This is not his first appearance on a reality TV show. He previously appeared in The Return of Superman with his daughter. The program featured famous fathers who took care of their children alone, which was a departure from their typical routine. Choo Sung-hoon also won gold medals for South Korea at the 2001 Asian Judo Championships and for Japan at the 2002 Asian Games, and is signed to ONE Championship.
The fashionable athlete has his own clothing brand Sung 1975. The internet shop sells t-shirts, sweatshirts and hoodies. He has the name of the brand tattooed on his forearms. Akiyama is one of 30 people left at the moment. When he’s not doing reality shows, “Sexyama” is an utter beast in the circle. The dangerous judoka is known for often participating in exciting battles and has a strong MMA record of 16-7-2. Last year, he defeated fellow great Shinya Aoki by technical knockout at ONE:X.
A recap of episode 6 of Physical 100 and the air dates for subsequent episodes
Following the events of Episode 5, Physical 100 Episode 6 continued the series’ story by introducing five new contestants. In addition to the five winning teams, another squad was formed with returnees Kim Sang-wook, Lee Jun-myeong, Choi Sung-hyuk, Seong Chi-hyun and Sim Eu-ddeum.
After the six winning teams were identified, the third quest for Episode 6 was announced. To fulfill the third assignment, each team was asked to join another group they felt would help them win. Six of the 30 survivors formed partnerships to put together what they believed would be the best team to take on the third round. As a result of the merger, three groups of 10 competitors were created. The difficult challenge of the third quest was towing a 1.5 ton ship. The team that gets the ship to its destination in the shortest time wins the race. The first team completed the task in the last seconds of episode 6, while the second team couldn’t.
In episodes 7 and 8, which will be released on Netflix on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, viewers will find out which team won the third task and which ten Physical 100 candidates were sent. The series airs at 12pm PDT, 3am EDT (US), 5am Brazil time, 8am UK time, 9am CEST, 1:30pm IST, 7pm Australian time, and 9pm New Zealand time.
