House That! Maggie and Mario Franco build WA’s largest house on Jutland Parade in Dalkeith

Most people like to lose weight as they get older, but Maggie and Mario Franco don’t.

This week, the couple listed their five-bedroom, six-bathroom home on Hobbs Avenue in Dalkeith so they can move to a larger home.

But what more could they want than what they already have in their luxurious three-storey family home?

Realtor Willie Porteous said the Hobbs Avenue property includes formal living and dining rooms, a family room, a games room, a study, two kitchens and a bar.

And to make sure you never have to leave the house, the 1295 sqm block also has an expansive gym, spa and sauna, as well as a temperature controlled cellar, garden terrace with pizza oven, bathroom and full sized tennis court and pool.

So if this is the little path, where are they going?

The couple are in the final stages of constructing a seven-storey house on Jutland Parade in Dalkeith, which will have an interior space of 3,500 sqm, including boat storage and parking for 16 cars.

It dwarfs the size of Alan Bond’s former home on the corner of Victoria Avenue and Watkins Road in Dalkeith, believed to have recently held the title of WA’s largest home, at 3,012 sq.

To put it in perspective, the Francos will soon have the same floor space as a large-range supermarket – or nearly 15 average-sized houses.

The newly constructed home spans three levels of living, with five or six bedroom suites, a parking level, and three levels of storage.

The slightly smaller houses on either side are owned by their sons Robert and Michael, who worked with their father at the Fero Group before the family sold it to DSI Underground a few years ago. The Francos were not available for comment, but Mr Porteous said the new pad was a good long-term investment.

“You don’t build a two-bedroom house on Jutland Parade,” he said.
