The Helck anime adaptation was announced on Twitter via an image posted by Helck’s artist Nanaki Nanao. In addition, the Helck manga is being re-released. This announcement comes well after the series’ end in 2017.
The author of Helck, Nanaki Nanaoposted the announcement art to their Twitter account on February 13, 2022.
This tweet reads: “Everyone, we did it!” while the image says, “Helck’s anime version confirmed! To think we’d get an anime someday…thank you all so much! – Nanaki Nanao”
Helck manga re-release planned for spring 2022
Another tweet, this one from Sho Kobayashi, the deputy editor of Manga One and Ura Sunday, in which Helck was published, was also posted on February 13, 2022:
This tweet reads:
“My God! Helck’s anime adaptation fantasy work has been confirmed!
“Even four years after the series ended, we’re still getting so many passionate comments from fans, so we’re incredibly happy to hear that this work is going to be another huge success!
“So many reviews of this work call it a ‘legendary work’… we are preparing for a special edition for this spring, so be excited about that!!”
Both the publisher and author seem super excited about the adaptation — while it’s not entirely uncommon for manga to get anime adaptations long after their run has ended, it’s certainly not as common as an adaptation of a currently serialized work. A great example of an older, closed series that was recently picked up to be turned into a massive franchise is Fruits Basket, which finished publishing in 2006 and got a revamped anime in 2019. The passionate fans behind Helck may have contributed to the decision to make an adaptation of the work.
What is Helck?

Vamirio doesn’t really believe Helck, but still lets him participate in the tournament, the events of which are covered by the manga.
