Good Burger 2 will be released later this year on Paramount Plus
It’s official: Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell will reunite for one Good burger sequel coming later this year on Paramount Plus. The duo revealed the news during a segment The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon on Friday night, pointing out that they will start filming in the summer.
Good burger 2 is set in a contemporary version of the fictional fast food restaurant of the same name, with Thompson reprising his role as Dexter Reed and Mitchell as Ed, the store’s hilariously ignorant cashier. Here’s the movie official summary:
Dexter Reed has a breakdown after yet another of his inventions fail. Ed welcomes Dex back to Good Burger with open arms and gives him his old job back. With a new crew working at Good Burger, Dex devises a plan to get back on his feet, but unfortunately, he once again puts Good Burger’s fate in jeopardy.
The original Good burger premiered in 1997 as a spin-off of the Good Burger skit All of thatthe Nickelodeon comedy series that starred both Thompson and Mitchell. Judging by the movie’s description, it seems like no one else in the original cast, like Linda Cardellini or Sinbad, is returning for the sequel.
It will keep part of it Good burgerHowever, the sequel’s original writers such as Kevin Kopelow and Heath Seifert will serve as the sequel’s writers and executive producers. Meanwhile, Phil Traill of The middle And Brooklyn nine-nine will direct.
This won’t be the first time Thompson and Mitchell do their reprise Good burger roll. The two got back together during a sketch on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon in 2015, and Mitchell took on the role of Ed in the short-lived All of that Restart which premiered in 2019. Thompson and Mitchell have heavily hinted at a Good burger continued since then teasing the finished script last year.
“I can’t believe it’s been a little over 25 years since good customer service was born at Good Burger!” Thompson said in a statement. “Being a part of something that so many generations of people have come to love has made me so proud and to now be back where it all started working on the sequel is surreal!”
As someone who is a fan of the original Good burger And All of that, I have to say I’m excited about the reboot. I’m just not sure if it’s something I’ll consider subscribing to Paramount Plus, especially as the service raises its prices soon, but I’ll wait for the first trailer until I’ve made my decision.
