Adelaide based Fleet Space Technologies has appointed former chief marketing officer, Chloe Leclerc, as its new chief marketing officer (CMO).
She is charged with building Fleet’s go-to-market strategy and presence in Australia and North America, with a focus on the satellite-based mineral exploration solution.
Fleet designs, builds and operates small satellites that provide universal connectivity. The team has now passed 80 employees in the past six months, following a $36 million Series B in 2021 that saw the company build a constellation of 288 satellites.
The space tech startup has also launched ExoSphere, for the mineral exploration industry to provide lightning fast, highly scalable 3D mapping solutions to locate minerals and increase the accuracy of drilling targets.
This is already helping the world transition to clean air mobility technologies by creating a faster, more sustainable and less expensive route for finding critical mineral deposits.
Leclerc said she always wanted to do something that made an impact, and working at Fleet gives her that opportunity.
“As a company committed to addressing one of the world’s most pressing challenges, the energy transition, Fleet is contributing to a global shift towards sustainable energy solutions,” she said.
“Space is about people and their shared passion and inspiration. I have shaped my leadership approach based on the leaders who have inspired me in my career. I believe in leading by example and giving people the freedom, support and guidance they need to stimulate their creativity and innovation.”
CEO Flavia Tata Nardini said Leclerc has already made a huge contribution to Fleet Space.
“The challenges facing the aerospace and mining industries require a broad range of skills and expertise: Chloe’s exceptionally broad knowledge and experience, together with her international outlook and connections, make her an incredibly valuable addition to our senior leadership team,” she said.
“She is also a fantastic role model for women in the space industry, with a genuine desire to encourage and support women in the industry. We very much look forward to working with her in her new role.”
Leclerc previously served as Marketing & Strategy Manager at AIRBUS in Beijing and France and as Head of Marketing at Telespazio France, and was recognized as a finalist for Aviation/Aerospace Australia’s ‘Outstanding Next Generation Professional’ in 2022.
