Early life and education
Erik was raised as a single child in Worcester by his father Fred, who is a businessman, and his own mother Ann who is originally from Swedenand who received her US citizenship in 2007. Erik spent much of his time in Sweden, learning a bit of their language, and today he and his family visit Sweden at least once a year.

He grew up interested in sports, took taekwondo lessons and today holds a first degree black belt. Erik was also interested in music and began taking piano and saxophone lessons while attending a public high school in Worcester, while also playing football and tennis.
He started his acting career while still attending primary school, college and then high school decided to study at the University of Southern California, while working on his acting career at the same time. He also worked on his acting skills at Phillips Exeter Academy and Mount Saint Charles Academy.
Career as an actor
Erik made his screen debut in the science fiction film “Armageddon” in 1998, starring Liv Tyler, Bruce Willis and Ben Affleck and was a huge commercial success. In 1999, Erik portrayed Fuzzy in the drama film “The Cider House Rules” which follows Homer Wells living in the US after World War II.
He made his TV series debut in the “Pilot” episode of “Wonderland” in 2000, then rose to worldwide fame after being invited to play Dewey Wilkerson in the sitcom “Malcolm in the middle”, photographed for it from 2000 to 2006.
The show starred Frankie Muniz, Bryan Cranston and Justin Berfield and follows a teenager who lives with his strange family. He next appeared in the comedy film “Joe Dirt” in 2001, and in the horror film “Wendigo” and was subsequently cast to appear in two TV series – “Meatball Finkelstein” and “Black of Life”.
In 2002, he starred as Charlie Sumner in the erotic drama thriller film “Unfaithful”, and appeared as Young Arthur in the episode “Shrink Wrap” in the sitcom “The King of Queens”. Erik lent his voice to Sheldon in the computer animated movie “Finding Nemo” in 2003, and voiced the same character in the video game “Finding Nemo” the same year.
In 2004 Erik appeared in the comedy film “Christmas with the Kranks”, while in 2006 he appeared in a single episode of “Come on Over” and in the French comedy film “Arthur and the Invisibles”. Some of Erik’s last roles before he retired from acting were in movies “Mo” in 2007 and “Twelve” in 2010. It is unknown what Erik has been up to since his retirement.
