Frake’s theater career began in her mid-teens, when she won a prestigious National YoungArts Foundation Honorable Mention for her film IV Script.With Love, Tuck and Alex at age 15.
Frakes stated at Viewpoint school that she wanted to study filmmaking and storytelling so she could make documentaries to educate the public about environmental issues.
During her studies, Eliza was very active in both the English and Theater departments and had completed independent studies in collaboration with both departments which allowed her to write a pilot and a play.
Her original pilot went on to win the student arm of the Wild Sound Festival. During her university years, she also received the Departmental Distinction Award for acting.
Elizabeth’s theater experience
Eliza began living and working across the country in writers’ rooms, on sets, in theaters and as an educator after graduating from the Portland Experimental Theater Ensemble.
During her time in Los Angeles, she worked remotely as a screenwriter for Fuzzy Door Productions. Some of Frake’s theatrical roles include Mash in Stupid F*$king Bird, Tabby in Cuddles, Lily in Waterlily, and Sarah in Murky (a short film). Frakes’ earlier stage works include Remembrance Day and Moleman.
One of her works was shown at the Cannes Film Festival.
Frakes’ short films have also been selected for the Cannes Film Festival and she was the winner of the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival.
Frakes’ colleagues have described her as very good at creating original material and having starred in classical, modern and experimental stage plays at the university and professional level.
Eliza is also the founder and director of 920 Collective, an interdisciplinary artist community that gathers to collaborate with and support budding media creators.
She is also a member of Corrib Theatre.
Frakes resume outside the theater began to take shape when she landed a gig in September 2019 as Writer’s PA on a new show for CBS, All Access, which allowed her to work in the support staff and learn by sitting in the TV writers room . .
