Madden NFL 23’s The latest title update briefly locked players out of the game on Thursday, EA confirmed on Twitter. It is the latest in a string of problems that have plagued the popular football title in recent weeks.
Thursday at 11:43 ET, EA’s Madden NFL Direct Twitter account shared that “we are aware that players will not be able to access the game after downloading the latest title update.” Many players reported problems on Down detectorwhile fans on the Madden Reddit posted threads expressing their frustrations with the problems. At 12:12 ET, the Madden NFL Direct account said the problem was solved.
The brief outage adds to a growing pile of frustrating issues with the game in recent weeks. On Christmas Day, in-game gifts gave players content with the wrong names and images, and one fix gave people the wrong content before another fix fixed the issues. EA wrote in a support article. (EA offers “makegood” gift packs in response.) Just days later, the data of players who logged into their franchise leagues over a period of nearly 10 hours may have become corrupted, and EA estimates that only 40 percent of leagues can be recovered.
When reached for comment about Thursday’s outage, EA spokesperson Will Alexander II pointed to the 12:12 ET tweet. We asked what EA could do to make sure things run smoother as the game progresses.
EA will also make a change in response to Buffalo Bills player Damar Hamlin’s scary injury on January 2, where he went into cardiac arrest and received CPR on the field during a game. Madden NFL 23 currently includes a touchdown celebration where players pretend to give CPR, but an EA Sports spokesperson says the celebration will be removed in “the coming days” according to CBS Sports. Hamlin is discharged from Buffalo General Medical Center/Gates Vascular Institute, the Buffalo Bills said on Twitter on Wednesday.
