‘Chokehold’, a thriller movie, premieres on Netflix
choke hold, Netflix’s next Turkish thriller film, will launch on the streaming site on Friday, April 21 at 3:00 a.m. ET (tentative). The plot revolves around a couple who try to avoid a scandal by moving to a new village on the Aegean coast. However, they soon understand that the citizens of the town want to get rid of them, turning their lives into a living nightmare. Kivanç Tatlitug and Funda Eryigit play the lead roles, and many others play important supporting characters. Onur Saylak directed it while Hakan Gunday wrote the screenplay.
On April 14, 2023, Netflix released the official trailer for Chokehold, which gives a look at the various pivotal events that will take place in the new film. The trailer opens with a chilling line that perfectly sets the tone of the film:
“You said it was all behind us since we got here,” I remarked.
After that, the teaser briefly shows a variety of exciting sequences from the movie without revealing too many critical aspects that could potentially ruin the viewing experience for viewers. Overall, the teaser has a dark and ominous tone that fans of road/thriller movies will no doubt appreciate. Alongside the teaser, Netflix has released an official description of the movie on its YouTube account, which reads:
“To avoid a controversy, an Istanbul couple start over in a village on the Aegean coast – only to find that the locals are desperate to get rid of them.”
Fans can expect a very intense and dramatic thriller based on the trailer and the official description that explores the intriguing lives of a couple trying to escape their past, which continues to haunt them in many ways.

Kivanç Tatlitug, a well-known actor, plays one of the main roles in Chokehold. There aren’t many further details about his role at this point, but based on the trailer and story, he appears to be portraying the husband. Tatlitug looks fantastic in the clip, expressing his character’s myriad shades with surprising depth and grace, while also giving him a sense of mystery. In the movie, viewers can expect him to deliver a great performance.
Tatlitug has also appeared in The Festival of Troubadours, Aile, Yakamoz S-245 and Money Trap, just to name a few. Funda Eryigit, who plays the wife, plays another important role along with him. Funda Eryigit effortlessly captures her character’s fear, stress and bewilderment. Fans can expect a remarkable performance from her in the film. Son Yaz, 9.75 Santimetrekare and The Protector are among her other major acting credits. Other main cast members are Gürgen z, Hayat Van Eck, Kerem Arslanoglu and others.
