After months of waiting ‘Child of Kamirai Month‘ finally arrived on Netflix on February 8 of 2022. The supernatural fantasy anime movie was previously released from Creative Universal of Japan on October 8, 2021. Produced by Liden Films, Takana Shirai has directed the movie. From Netflix subscribers all over the world are able to stream the film.
The theme of grief and trauma is not new in anime movies. The 1988 movie ‘Grave of the Fireflies’ or ‘Okko’s Inn’ of 2018 is a perfect example of how well anime can deal with the complicated and heartfelt topic of grief, pain, trauma.
In ‘Child of Kamirai Month’, protagonist Kanna’s journey through the pitfalls of life and her struggle with the emotional hardships are more significant and engaging than the fantasy elements in it. Though it is true that the fantasy and supernatural elements are only there to reinvent the universal trouble of real human lives.
The original title of ‘Child of Kamirai Month’ is ‘Kamiarizuki no kodomo’ which is obviously a Japanese title. Here is the complete details about the plot, voice cast, and everything else that we know about the anime movie.
Possible Plotline Of Child of Kamirai Month
The 99 minutes long movie is centered around a young girl named Kanna. The story begins when she is twelve years old. Kanna is born as a descendent of Gods. The gods are going to gather in Izumo for which Kanna’s family has a mission to complete. Her family is tasked with traveling all over Japan and collect offerings from every nook of the country to deliver them in that gathering. Kanna’s mother is the primary executor of the mission.
But when her mother dies leaving the crucial task incomplete, Kanna has to take the responsibility on her own shoulder. She begins her journey throughout Japan with the desire of reuniting with her mother at the end of the journey on God’s land.
On one hand, the grief of her mother’s death and on the other hand the troublesome journey which is too much for a twelve years old girl, Kanna’s struggle is now tougher than ever. Her journey includes trauma, anguish, and discovering the fantastic world of the Gods.
