Brendan James Penny was born in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada on November 9, 1978, so his zodiac sign is Scorpio and he is a Canadian national. He is an actor, perhaps best known for playing AJ Varland in the TV series “Whistler”, which was popular in Canada and aired from 2006 to 2008.
Early life and education
Brendan spent part of his early life in Ottawa where he was raised as an only child by his father, who was a truck driver, and his mother, who was a nurse. He attended a local high school in Ottawa, where he was a member of the school’s drama club, and acted in most of the plays there.
After matriculation and with the encouragement of his parents and teachers, he moved to London, Ontario where he enrolled at Fanshawe College and received his bachelor’s degree in accounting. He then moved to Vancouver, British Columbia, where he studied acting at the Lyric School of Acting and graduated in 2004 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in theatre.

In 2006, Brendan came in a supporting role as teammate number one in “John Tucker Must Die”, while appearing in three films in 2008 – “The Ex-Convict’s Guide to Surviving House Arrest”, “Poison Ivy: The Secret Society”, and “Thomas Kinkade’s Home for Christmas”. He played Steve in a single episode of ‘Supernatural’ in 2006, before appearing as Coleman Alt in three episodes of the drama series ‘The L Word’, which follows several friends living in West Hollywood, California.
He appeared in some episodes of “Kyle XY”, “Blade: The Series” and “Smallville” in 2006, before being invited to play AJ Varland in the drama series “Whistler”starring Jesse Moss and Amanda Crew, and follows Beck McKaye, a snowboarding legend who, after winning a gold medal at the 2006 Turin Winter Olympics, is found dead.
In 2008, Brendan guest-starred in two episodes of “Stargate: Atlantis” as the Wraith technician, while also appearing in two episodes of “Diamonds” as Tom Anderson in 2009.
He won his first leading role in a TV series in 2009, playing Danny Newell in the comedy series “The Assistants”, starring Britt Irvin and Meaghan Rath, which follows four students and assistants living in Hollywood.
