Black Summoner anime release date set for July 2022 as a summer 2022 anime

Coming this summer, the Black Summoner anime follows a young man who enters an isekai world only to find out that he has made a deal with a powerful creature. In exchange for his memories, he is given the powerful gift of subpoena. However, he has to level up if he wants to use his skills. And along the way, there are many enemies who want nothing more than to get rid of a potential threat.
The series will air in July 2022 — coinciding with the release of the UK edition of the Black Summoner Volume 9 light novel.
When the Black Summoner anime was first announced, fans were given information about the main voice cast, including Kouki Uchiyama (My Hero Academia’s Tomura Shigaraki) as main character Kelvin. But since then, the production team has announced three additional members who will follow in his adventures alongside Kelvin.
- Kouki Uchiyama as Kelvino
- Reina Ueda as Melfina
- Yousuke Akimoto as Gerard
- Landi as Clotho
- Manaka Iwami as Efil
- Minori Suzuki as Sera
The studio producing the anime, Satelight, is no stranger to the isekai series. Log Horizon in the fall of 2013 introduced many to the genre, and it’s likely Black Summoner will do the same for newcomers joining the anime fandom in the future. With a fun and simple plot, Kuro no Shoukanshi is a good choice for those who want to delve into the isekai genre without needing much prior knowledge of MMORPGs.
Where can I learn more about the Black Summoner anime?
Recently, the cast of Black Summoner attended AnimeJapan 2022 to discuss their thoughts on the series and get fans excited for what’s to come. It’s worth watching the voice cast face-off in a game of charades, and it speaks to the sense of camaraderie they were able to form while collaborating on the Summer 2022 anime.
Want to enter to win a signed illustration from Clotho voice actress Landi? Follow the official Kuro no Shoukanshi twitter and retweet this post† Two lucky participants will win! But fans only have until April 13 to participate, so don’t delay. Black Summoner’s official Twitter is also a great place to keep up to date with new information about the series, so it’s win-win even if you don’t… win.
There is, of course, also the light novel and manga that keeps you up to date on the plot and characters of the series. As of now, it is highly likely that the Black Summoner anime will be a faithful adaptation. But until the series airs, there’s no way to know for sure if the anime will take creative liberties. For now, fans can only wait and see!
What other anime will be released in the Summer 2022 anime season?
In addition to Black Summoner, fans have both new series and sequels to get excited about! Those looking for something in the same vein as Kuro no Shoukanshi should also check out My Isekai Life (Tensei Kenja no Isekai Life: Daini no Shokugyo wo Ete, Sekai Saikyou ni Narimashita), which similarly follows a protagonist who makes new companions collects to help him in his adventures.
There is also the fourth season of Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? which further leans towards romance. And those more interested in the world-building elements of fantasy should check out Overlord Season 4, also out this summer.
For those wanting a darker seinen series, Made in Abyss Season 2 – though not an isekai – is a beautiful fantasy adventure that pushes its delightful cast to their limits. And for something more lighthearted and comedic, there’s also Isekai Ojisan, which explores the hilarious antics of a man who returns to the real world after some…less heroic adventures in a world beyond.
Whatever you’re looking for, the Summer 2022 anime season is packed with gems to watch. If you’re already excited about Black Summoner, there’s an endless stream of content coming in the coming months.
