The Isekai Quartet Season 3 anime could continue the comedy and humor of Re:Zero, KonoSuba, Overlord and The Saga Of Tanya The Evil.

On March 31, 2021, the official Twitter account for the anime series officially announced that an Isekai Quartet sequel was already in production. But the format of the sequel was not specified at the time.

Fast-forward to July 2021 and the Isekai Quartet: Another World movie release date was confirmed for late spring 2022. There’s no reason, of course, why there couldn’t be both a third season and an Isekai Quartet movie.

But the real question is what new isekai characters will make their way into Isekai Quartet 3.

After all, the official announcements made it pretty clear that Raphtalia and Naofumi from The Rising Of The Shield Hero are temporary characters. On the official website, the new characters are listed as “guest characters” and not as permanent additions to the main cast.

The BOFURI Season 2 anime has also been confirmed to be in production, so Maple and Sally could be coming out of BOFURI: I Don’t Want to Get Hurt, so I’ll Max Out My Defense. Cautious Hero’s Seiya and Ristarte also enjoyed a brief cameo in the second season, and they were voiced by Japanese voice actors Yuichiro Umehara and Aki Toyosaki from Cautious Hero: The Hero Is Overpowered but Overly Cautious.

But will both duos join the cast for Season 3 of Isekai Quartet? Based on the isekai anime released in 2020 alone, Isekai Quartet 3 has many character options for a sequel. It seems like a new anime adaptation is announced every day for the ever-expanding Isekai genre.

Japanese publisher Kadokawa plans to milk the currently popular Isekai genre for all its value based on its financial results.

In 2019, anime’s quarterly profits increased mainly due to isekai anime licensing revenues, so Kadokawa announced its intention to produce at least one Isekai anime adaptation per season.

In early May 2021, Kadokawa announced that they planned to create at least 40 anime projects per year by 2023, a 20 percent increase from 33 titles.

The primary purpose of the Isekai Quartet anime series is to be a blatant marketing platform for promoting ongoing popular series in which Kadokawa publishes the books or manga.

The Rising Of The Shield Hero Season 3 has already been confirmed.

But the focus will always be on the pillars. The Re:Zero Season 2 anime has already been released and Re:Zero Season 3 seems very likely as the producer has already openly talked about a third season. KonoSuba Season 3 seems very likely in the long run.

Overlord Season 4 was finally announced in 2021 alongside a new Overlord movie.

Likewise, The Saga Of Tanya The Evil season 2 was also announced in 2021.

In the long run, it’s not a question of whether Kadokawa wants to produce the Isekai Quartet’s Season 3 anime, it’s a question of how.

This article contains everything known about Isekai Quartet Season 3 (Isekai Quartet 3) and all related news. As such, this article will be updated over time with news, rumors and analysis. In the meantime, let’s get into what is known for sure.

What new characters is Isekai Quartet 3 introducing?

Even before Isekai Quartet’s second season was announced, it was pretty clear that Shield Hero’s characters would be introduced. Shield Hero was by far the most popular series licensed by Kadokawa that was adapted into an anime in 2019.

The 2019 isekai anime featured the Wise Man’s Grandchild (Kenja no Mago) anime. However, the series was nowhere near popular enough to warrant a chibi Shin Wolford, although it would have been amusing to watch the unwitting character create OP chaos.

On the other hand, the reviews of Cautious Hero: The Hero Is Overpowered Bu Overly Cautious in late 2019 (Shinchou Yuusha: Kono Yuusha ga Ore Tueee Kuse ni Shinchou Sugiru) were pretty solid.

The isekai setback isn’t quite a straight comedy due to its heavy drama plot elements. However, the goddess Ristarte and her champion Seiya would be perfect for the Isekai Quartet season 3 cast, so it’s no surprise that they’re already on the second season.

Ristarte first appeared in Episode 8 for a brief cameo while working at a food stall. Then both Seiya and Ristarte made an appearance in episode 11, where they participated in the school festival.

On the other hand, Cautious Hero season 2 has still not been announced and the author of the original light novel has continued to focus on the Full Dive: The Ultimate Next-Gen Full Dive RPG is even shittier than real life! light novel series. Therefore, it seems unlikely that Seiya and Ristarted will return as guest characters.

2020 anime offered a lot more options, not even halfway through the year. The Plunderer anime’s Licht Bach and Hina offer a mix of serious SciFi fantasy and “man of culture” humor. But since that anime hasn’t been revamped, it doesn’t seem likely they’ll be included.

(Sorry, 2021 That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime Season 2 is owned by Kodansha, not Kadokawa.)

The question is whether BOFURI’s Maple and Sally or Infinite Dendrogram’s Ray Starling and Nemesis would fit into Isekai Quartet Season 3.

While Kadokawa licenses both, they are technically not isekai as both stories are about gamers playing a VRMMORPG.

No doubt they’re both quasi-isekai because the main plot is set in a different world, but that’s an extension of the genre.

But if only one of these anime can make it into Isekai Quartet 3, the obvious choice is BOFURI: I Don’t Want to Get Hurt, so I’ll Max Out My Defense.

Reviews of the BOFURI anime were more positive and the plot is more clearly focused on comedy.

In addition to waiting for something new to become popular, Kadokawa can also dive into its franchise portfolio. The obvious choice would be Shiro and Sora from No Game No Life.

Anime fans have been clamoring for the No Game No Life season 2 anime to be produced for years.

Kadokawa is also behind Sword Art Online: Alicization. Again, SAO doesn’t technically qualify as isekai, but since we’re considering BOFURI, why not?

The SAO: Unital Ring light novels provide a direct sequel to the Alicization storyline. It is likely that Sword Art Online season 4 will eventually be animated. Therefore Kirito, Asuna and Alice could be portrayed as a bickering love triangle.

Honestly, the biggest potential is for Kumoko from the 2021 So I’m A Spider, So What? animation. The Kumoko resonated with anime fans and her comedic antics would fit the cast of the Isekai Quartet perfectly.

Isekai Quartet 3 release date prediction: will the anime return in 2023?

As of the latest update, Kadokawa, Studio PuYUKAI or any other company related to the production of the Isekai Quartet 3 anime have not officially confirmed the exact release date of Isekai Quartet Season 3. However, the production of another Isekai Quartet sequel was announced by the last episode of the second season.

Once the news is officially confirmed, this article will be updated with the relevant information.

In the meantime, it’s possible to speculate about when the Isekai Quartet Season 3 premiere date will be in the future.

The biggest issue is whether the leaked Isekai Quartet movie is the promised sequel or whether both a movie and season 3 of Isekai Quartet are in production at the same time.

If it’s the former, the Isekai Quartet Season 3 release date will be pushed to 2023 or beyond. If the latter is the case, the third season could also be released in 2022.

Let’s hope Kadokawa doesn’t keep fans waiting too long for the Isekai Quartet Season 3 release date. Stay tuned!
