Amazon is thinking of a Creed anime spin-off series
Michael B. Jordan perhaps spoke somewhat poetically during Creed III‘s shooting when he sat down Jonathan Majors to explain how their live-action boxing movie felt a lot like a shonen anime. But MGM parent company Amazon may be very serious about wanting to follow up Creed III‘s success with an entire cinematic universe that includes a Belief animated series.
deadline reports that in the wake of Creed III‘s landmark $58 million domestic debutAmazon is now in very early talks with director/star Michael B. Jordan about a number of potential sequels set in the same universe as the movies that would continue the story of Adonis Creed and his family.
While the studio has yet to comment on any specific follow-ups aside from one previously announced Drago feature film focusing on Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren) and his son Viktor (Florian Munteanu), it is reportedly considering “an anime series” along with a live-action counterpart. Amazon is also said to be considering a new project focusing on Adonis’ young daughter, Amara (Mila Davis-Kent), who took on a much bigger role in Creed III like a gifted fighter in the making.
Given that talks about all of these potential projects are still in the early stages, it’s fair to assume that some of them might not come to fruition if and when Amazon decides to give them a real green light. But looking at how good Creed III‘s performance and how the film very purposefully leaves the door open for future storytelling, Amazon is almost certainly thinking seriously about making the Belieffresh happening.
