All the truth about George Jung’s daughter
Kristina Sunshine Jung is an American entrepreneur and businesswoman born on August 1, 1978 in California, USA. She is known only as the daughter of former drug kingpin George Jung.
Early life
Kristina Sunshine Jung was born to George Jung and Mirtha Calderon. There is not much information about her early education, but she is known to have had a difficult childhood due to her parents’ divorce when she was six years old, and their living situation and criminal life.
When she was very young, her father was imprisoned for drug trafficking and her mother for drug possession. Because of this complicated situation, Kristina Sunshine was raised by Frederick and Erminalia Jung, her paternal grandparents.
It is said that they were kind to her, often gifting her clothes and toys, giving young Kristine stability as a child. When Kristine’s grandfather Frederick died, she moved in with her aunt Marie Jung, who raised Kristine until she left home when she turned 18 years old.
Career
Blow – 2001
The public spotlight turned to Kristina Sunshine after the release of the 2001 biographical movie “Blow,” starring Johnny Depp and Penelope Cruz. The film focused on the story of Kristine’s father George Jung, also known as “Boston George” and “El Americano”, a former member of the Medellin Cartel and responsible for smuggling cocaine into the US during the decades of 1970 and 1980, becoming one of the more powerful drug lords in the world at the time.
Kristina Sunshine also appeared in that movie and co-starred with Depp in a scene of that movie. However, the scene was only included in the DVD edition of the film due to a petition from the US government. Short as it was, this was Kristina’s only role as an actress to date.

Parents – who are they?
Kristina Sunshine’s relationship with both her parents is an important aspect of her life. Both spent years in prison for different reasons, a fact that made Kristina’s childhood and teenage years difficult due to the lack of parental figures. Plus, since her father was one of the most notorious drug lords to ever live in the US, it made her life even more unusual.
Father – George Jung
Kristina’s father George Jung was born on August 6, 1942 in Boston, Massachusetts, USA. He became known as a major figure in the drug trade to the US from Colombia in the 1970s.
George came from a family of German descent and spent his early life in Weymouth, Massachusetts. He graduated from Weymouth High School and attended the University of Southern Mississippi for a degree he never finished, but he began consuming marijuana during his time in college.
In 1967, he realized the potential profit the marijuana trade could bring him. His girlfriend at the time was in charge of transporting small amounts of the drug, but George began to expand his business when he began trafficking marijuana from Mexico. His business grew so much that profits were estimated to be at least $250,000 a month, which is more than $1 million today.
Although George’s first arrest was for inciting prostitution during his teenage years, he was arrested a second time in 1974 for possession and trafficking of marijuana.
During his time in prison, he met Carlos Lehder Rivas, who had ties to the Medellin Cartel, one of the most powerful in the world at the time. Carlos introduced George to the cocaine trade, and when they were both released after a year in prison, they became associates in the drug trade, trafficking cocaine from Pablo Escobar in Colombia to the US.
Even though George wasn’t the leader or chief of operations, he profited millions from it. He and his associates began to expand their business by using airplanes, which traveled from Colombia to California with large amounts of cocaine, making millions in profits every day. By 1970, Jung was estimated to be making $5 million a day, money he kept at the National Bank of Panama to evade taxes and legal investigations into the origin of the money.
Towards the end of the 1970s, Carlos Lehder fired Jung from the company, but this did not deter George as he reacquainted with his old associates and continued his criminal activities.
In 1987, Jung was arrested for a third time in Massachusetts, but was only imprisoned for a few years. Jung kept himself away from criminal life for a few years after his release, until he reconnected with his associates in Mexico to continue his old marijuana business. This time, however, his criminal activities were short-lived, as he was imprisoned again in 1995 for possession of 1,754 pounds of marijuana and for conspiracy. He was sentenced to 60 years in prison.
In 2014 he was released in a halfway house, but after two years he committed a parole violation, a paid gig in San Diego without his parole officer’s permission, and was arrested again.

He was released again in 2017 after completing his sentence.
Mother – Mirtha Jung
Mirtha Jung was born Mirtha Calderon in Cuba in 1952 and married George Jung in March 1977. In 1978, she gave birth to Kristina Sunshine, but she was a drug addict and it is said that she maintained her addiction even during her pregnancy. Jung’s dealings with drugs also encouraged Mirtha to continue her addiction until 1981 when she was arrested for drug possession. However, this time in prison allowed Mirtha to think about her addiction and she stopped using drugs.
In 1984, and after being drug free for a few years, Mirtha filed for divorce. She never remarried; there is not much information about her later life.
Kristina’s relationship with her parents
Kristina’s relationship with his mother is good, and she is said to have kept in touch with her over the years, even writing a book about her. However, Kristina’s relationship with her father is different. Kristina stopped visiting his father in prison when she was a teenager, and the relationship between the two became strained due to George’s constant incarceration and his drug dealing business.
Kristina stayed away from her father until 2014 when she started shortly before visiting him again he was released from prison. However, Jung said the father-daughter relationship “has since petered out, in part because his daughter can’t forgive him,” though Jung is said to have provided the money for Kristina’s own brand “BG Apparel and Merchandise.”
After his arrest in 2016 and release in 2017, Kristina and George began to rebuild their relationship.
